The Legends of ¥ürŸth

How Æl, the Life-Giver, Breathed Life into the World

Before we breathed, there was Æl, the life-giver.

Æl breathed and the breath of life went out into the universe.

Æl breathed again and there was ¥ürŸth.

And Æl smiled.

Æl breathed and there was sky.

Æl breathed and there was water.

Æl breathed and there was earth.

Æl breathed again and ¥ürŸth was filled with all manner of the living.

And Æl smiled.

Then Æl gathered some earth and called it flesh.

Then Æl gathered some sky and called it mind.

Then Æl gathered some water and called it blood.

Then Æl gathered them all together, drew them close, and breathed life into them.

Then We breathed.

And Æl smiled.

So the life-giver breathed life into all of the world.

And when Æl saw all that was breathing, Æl smiled.

We breathed and we blessed the life-giver for our breath.

We cared for all that was living as Æl cared for us.

Then we became proud.

Æl had given all to us.

¥ürŸth was ours.

All life was ours.

We were over all.

We forgot the gift of the living.

We forgot the gift of breath.

We forgot the life-giver.

We became keepers of death.

We sought to be Æl.

We built great temples.

We became masters of great magic.

We became life-givers.

We made many wonderful and terrible things.

We forgot the gift of the living.

We forgot the gift of breath.

We forgot the life-giver.

We became worshippers of death.

We became restless.

No place on ¥ürŸth could hide from us.

In ships we roamed the earth.

In ships we roamed the sky.

In ships we roamed the water.

We found no cure for our restlessness.

We found only we.

We were given enough.

We were not satisfied.

We became jealous.

We forgot the gift of the living.

We forgot the gift of breath.

We forgot the life-giver.

We became bringers of death.
